<lead><![CDATA[North Atlantic Ocean 2010 Start Date Route : Distance: Status: Target: To be confirmedNew York - Falmouth 3300 miles Active: Recruiting Crew Under 55 Days In 1896 George Harbo and Gabriel Samuelson rowed the North Atlantic from New York to Bishops Rock in 55 days and 7 hours. This record has never been beaten.]]></lead>
<text><![CDATA[Though Harbo and Samuelsons 'pairs' record is quite safe from us (for now!) We aim to go out into the North Atlantic and with luck and good weather set a new overall speed record for this, most hazardous, piece of ocean. We undertake this challenge realising the full gravity of what we are undertaking and are set to prepare in the most professional manner for all but the most obscure of scenario's.Our crew will be quite simply one of the strongest put together in Ocean Rowing history. Selection for this event will be tough and many good candidates will go home disappointed as candidates outnumber places 5:1 at the moment .....The North Atlantic is boat breaker and survival times in the water are short due to the cold. We take every feasible precaution and have a number of standing rules to prevent accidents. We have a paramedic on board and access to specialist medical advice over the satellite link. We carry a liferaft, 2 EPRIB Beacons, and 2 Argos Beacons. In addition we have short range comms in the form of VHF/DSC and long range comms via the Satellite Phone. If YOU are interested in joining us for future rows, please contact us at:leven@oceanrowevents.com]]></text>
